SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY

Sustainability as a fundamental value of AMAG's corporate philosophy is to be understood holistically. In addition to ecological goals, sustainability also encompasses social, human rights and economic aspects. The overriding premise is to reduce the carbon footprint and create added value.

AMAG is fully aware of its responsibility as a premium supplier of recycled aluminum casting alloys and aluminum rolled products. AMAG contributes to a sustainable future by ...

  • ambitious sustainability targets are set and consistently followed.
  • innovative technologies and products (including AMAG AL4®ever) are constantly being further developed.
  • the best possible use of resources is guaranteed through closed-loop concepts.
  • the goal of climate neutrality is further accelerated through research and development as well as an AMAG de-carbonization roadmap.
  • the business model is based on the principle of "value creation through appreciation", and this attitude is fostered towards all vested interests.

AMAG - Sustainability Compass

The AMAG Sustainability Compass is based on the ESG (Environment, Social & Governance) areas and defines concrete areas of action in which AMAG can make a significant contribution to a sustainable future. Within the framework of these areas of action, AMAG sets itself ambitious annual targets and pursues important milestones in its development.

Areas of action in the Sustainability Compass

Responsible corporate governance

As a trustworthy and reliable business partner, AMAG Austria Metall AG is committed to conducting business activities in compliance with the law, transparent reporting, fair competition and responsible behavior towards people and resources.

Sustainable customer relationship and innovative products

AMAG Austria Metall AG is a partner for long-term commitment and fairness in customer relationships and ensures the highest product quality. More than 5,000 different products based on around 200 alloys meet the demands of around 1,000 customers.
AMAG has become the most modern aluminum rolling mill in the western world. Innovations are constantly driven forward in the company's own technology center "Center for Material Innovation - CMI" at the Ranshofen site.

Honest employee relationships

We value our employees and want to be an attractive and reliable employer for them - even in challenging times. AMAG employs more than 2,000 people from over 30 nations. It is important to us to guarantee equal opportunities and to use diversity as a "value added" for all.

Committed to protecting the environment

We take environmental protection very seriously, and aim to contribute to gradual decarbonization by setting ambitious targets, thereby protecting and conserving resources. AMAG Austria Metall AG is providing a valuable contribution to the implementation of the EU's Green Deal, and is taking measures to generate energy from renewable sources.

Responsible value chain

We have mastered the art of recycling and rely on innovative systems in the circular economy. With customized solutions and product lines such as AMAG AL4®ever and AMAG AL4®ever star, we also support customers in further improving the carbon footprint of their products.

Social commitment and regional value creation

We strengthen the region by supporting the sports, social and cultural activities of our employees through donations and sponsorship. The annual Social Award represents recognition and support for those projects that benefit disadvantaged people or those in need.
Helping to strengthen the region and investing locally brings added value for the local community and industry. A stronger social and economic environment is an important basis for successful and sustainable entrepreneurial activity.

Organizational anchoring of sustainability

Sustainability can only be given a credible position if it is also structurally anchored within the company and specific responsibilities and areas of action are defined.

As the supreme supervisory body, the Supervisory Board performs its duties with regard to the economic, ecological and social responsibility of the company.

The long-term orientation of AMAG's sustainability strategy is stipulated by the Management Board - which is also responsible for implementing the sustainability targets, and are then incorporated into the management structure with clearly defined areas of responsibility.

The Sustainability department is located in the Management Systems department. Here, data is collected, measures are reviewed and new targets are developed in close cooperation with all specialist departments of the AMAG companies. These are presented by the departmental managers in the Sustainability Committee, which meets once a year, and are then approved and agreed with the Management Board.

The annual sustainability goals are assigned to the six areas of action and two overarching goals identified in the Sustainability Compass.

Environmental and social standards
