In December 2012, a branch of the Louvre Museum was opened in Lens, northern France. The entire building ensemble stretches over a length of 360 meters on both sides of the central foyer. The museum planned by the architects SANAA, Tokyo, Japan, is transparent and open. The use of a lot of glass, but especially the use of aluminum, contributes to this. Large parts of the building with an exhibition area of 28,000 m² are covered with an anodized aluminum shell, which "depicts the contours of the surroundings in a blurred and out-of-focus manner, reflecting the landscape and the incidence of light differently depending on the location" (SANAA).
The architectural requirements were made possible by façade sheets from AMAG. AMAG AL4 façade AP1 is ideal for architectural and façade applications thanks to its even surface when anodized. This reflective, bright rolled surface offers new possibilities in the architectural representation of buildings. For indoor use, the AMAG sheets enable a kind of "dematerialization" of the rooms through reflection.

Aluminum is an essential material in the color and material concept of the AMAG CMI building (CMI = Center for Material Innovation). Especially in the entrance area of the CMI, this represents an essential element and unmistakably establishes the material reference to AMAG. The view is further focused by the dark facade color of the base building and room-high facade glazing made of aluminum profiles.
In the main visible area of the ground floor there is a bicycle stand, which is covered on the outside with reflective aluminum sheets from the AMAG architectural sheet range. This special material, AMAG AL4® architecture AP1, has already been used on prominent buildings worldwide. The sandwich panels used here were manufactured by Tripan Lightweight Components, a partner of AMAG in the field of architecture for the further processing of AMAG AL4® architecture material into project-specific sandwich products.
A very sensuous material that reflects its surroundings in a velvety soft way and, depending on the viewing distance, makes the reflection appear softer or sharper. The special surface creates a spatial depth that is not known from any other metallic surface.

L‘ART POUR L‘ART IN MONTPELLIER
"Cloudscape" made of AMAG AL4 façade AP1 bright is an installation realized as part of the "Festival des architectures vives" in June 2015, in the inner courtyard of 6 rue des Trésoriers de la Bourse, Montpellier. The "Cloudscape" installation implemented by the FAKT team of architects was made of AMAG AL4 façade AP1 bright. The project functions as a spatial-structural experiment. Following the image of a cloud, light and lightness formed the basic principles of this architecture.
The special properties of AMAG AL4 façade AP1 bright support the design ideas excellently, as the high degree of reflection contributes to further dematerialization of the structure. The structural perception of architecture is complemented by the strong, physical-material presence and changing visual properties. Themes such as lightness and soft borders are translated architecturally.
Reflections - of the environment and reactions to the smallest changes in weather, light and color. Rain, for example, creates sounds, provides additional reflective effects and causes the structure to move slightly.
Softness – the shape is constantly changing. The thin aluminum sheets are constantly in a subtle movement and react to wind and temperature changes.
Transparency - without a clear border to the context, without a defined inside or outside, above or below. A constant redefined visual dialogue between object and viewer and a constant transformation of the courtyard through a change in the play of light and shadow on facades and floors.
AMAG AL4 façade AP1 bright - the material for sophisticated architectural ART.
