AMAG receives Gold Corona Business Location Prize

  • Around EUR 1 billion of investments over ten years – strong signal for Upper Austria as an industrial Location
  • Commitment to site creates 450 new jobs

This year's Gold Corona Business Location Prize 2018 has been awarded to AMAG. The award is a distinction given to companies that have significantly strengthened Upper Austria as a business region through their investments and the safeguarding of jobs. The company was extremely pleased to receive this distinction awarded by the Upper Austria Industrial Association last Wednesday, April 11.

The achievements of this leading company are considerable: over the past ten years, AMAG has invested a total of around EUR 1 billion (including around 90 % in Austria), with more than EUR 535 million committed to the construction of the new hot and cold rolling mill as well as the expansion of recycling capacities.

In the past 2017 financial year, the company also recorded its highest operating profit in the company's history and set shipments and sales revenue records. The EUR 1 billion sales revenue level was exceeded for the first time, representing 14 % growth.

"Business success and sustainability go hand in hand at AMAG. With the plant expansion – which concluded in June 2017 with the opening of our new hot rolling mill – we have commissioned Europe's most advanced, leading edge rolling plant. The expansion also represents a clear commitment to Upper Austria as a location. As one of the region's leading companies, we are an important employer here," noted CEO Helmut Wieser at the awards ceremony held in the Forum of the Raiffeisenlandesbank of Upper Austria in Linz.

With around 1,800 employees active in Ranshofen (as of the December 31, 2017 reporting date/heads), the main AMAG operations comprise a driver of growth and innovation within the region. Around 450 new jobs were created with the plant expansion, thereby safeguarding a further 1,200 jobs in Upper Austria. Besides hiring new employees, AMAG focuses on the technical and personal training and further development of its existing employees. AMAG is also investing in numerous programs over the long-term, ensuring that its advanced, leading edge production plants will provide products serving varied applications and meeting rising technical demands and requirements.
