“DEMATERIALIZAZION“ with AMAG architectural sheets.

 

AMAG AL4 façade AP1 is the key design element of the new Louvre museum in Lens, France. In December 2012, a branch of the Louvre museum was opened in Lens, in Northern France. The entire building ensemble extends over a length of 360 meters on either side of the central foyer.

 

Designed by SANAA Architects, Tokyo, Japan, the museum is characterized by a transparent and open design, featuring a great deal of glass, but most specifically aluminium. Large sections of the building covering an exhibition area of 28,000 m² are executed with anodized aluminium cladding that “mirrors a blurred and fuzzy image of the contours of the environment, while reflecting the landscape and light incidence differently according to the viewer’s position.” (SANAA).

 

These architectural demands were enabled by AMAG‘s façade sheet metal. When anodized, the uniform surface of AMAG AL4 façade 99.85 AQ126 is ideally suited for architectural and façade applications. This reflective bright-rolled surface offers new possibilities for the architectural presentation of buildings. As an element of indoor applications, AMAG‘s sheets can virtually “dematerialize” space by reflection.
