AMAG successfully certified for Japanese industry standard

• First European aluminium manufacturer to be awarded JIS certification (Japanese Industrial Standards)

AMAG is the first European aluminium producer to successfully qualify for the “JIS Mark” in line with the Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS). This remarkable achievement means that AMAG is now in a position to expand its product portfolio for the Japanese market. In future, AMAG will be able to supply aluminium sheets and plates for projects that require mandatory certification.

The qualification process was highly extensive: not only were numerous documents checked by the relevant Japanese authorities, the responsible AMAG quality manager also had to complete a special training course on site in Tokyo. In addition, two audits were carried out at the AMAG site in Ranshofen. In order to be able to meet the JIS requirements for materials testing, which deviate somewhat from the European standard, AMAG purchased a tensile testing machine specially designed for this purpose.

This successful certification once again underscores AMAG’s existing high level of quality and at the same time offers an incentive to continuously improve the services it provides.
