Mr. Staudinger, responsible for packaging at AMAG rolling GmbH
The position as a packaging technician was first created 2.5 years ago, when we realized during an optimization process that the complexity of the different packaging we use meant that we needed someone focusing on this issue full time.
This means that Mr. Staudinger acts as the interface between the Production, Technology and Sales departments and is responsible for implementing our customers’ packaging requirements as far as possible. He is also involved in the ongoing development of our packaging and review the feasibility of new packaging products.
Since 2016, for example, AMAG has been using a VCI film (volatile corrosion inhibitor). This is a corrosion-resistant film: VCI molecules evaporate from a carrier material (e.g. a film) and are deposited on the metal surface, creating a physical barrier between the metal and the corrosive medium (water).
A special feature is that the molecules quickly evaporate into the ambient air when the film is opened, so that our customers do not need to clean (e.g. degrease) the surface before the next process steps.
This film is ideal for transport by sea, of course. We have been able to significantly reduce complaints of moisture damage from condensed water. The film is now used for all coils that leave the factory – even for European destinations. This ensures that our customers get the best quality.
