Working round the clock for our customers!

My main tasks are loading the furnaces in the cast alloy foundry, and taking away the crucibles with the dross that gets accumulated when cleaning the castings. I’ve been working at AMAG for around seven years and in that time, I haven’t just trained as a wheel loader driver – I’m trained to operate every unit in the cast alloy foundry. I'm proud of that, and I'm looking forward to my next challenges at AMAG!

Based on specifications provided by production planning, I'm responsible for loading the right scrap in the exact quantity into the furnace's loading machine. It's really not straightforward to load the right quantity of a particular scrap metal, you need some experience. But of course, it's still precisely weighed – first directly on the wheel loader with the built-in scales, and then with scales linked up to the production specifications. They calculate any potential errors in the quantity and notify me straight away.

In order to keep the quantities exact, I have to drive the wheel loader onto the scales every twenty minutes to reset the tare weight, so that it can adjust for the fuel I’ve used.
