AMAG RECEIVES ENERGY GLOBE AWARD 2019

For the project "Optimum Energy Use Through Heat Recovery" AMAG received the Energy Globe Award in the category air.

The Energy Globe is the world's leading environmental award with 187 participating countries.

 

The AMAG flagship project is a sophisticated heat recovery project that uses waste heat from the casting process. This reduces the total heating requirement by up to 35%. The centerpiece is the utilization of the thermal energy of the cooling water from the casting process of aluminium rolling slabs.  

 

In total, an annual amount of energy of 17,000 MWh can be saved, which corresponds to the annual energy consumption of around 700 households. In addition, 4,500 tonnes of CO2 per year can be avoided, an amount that is emitted by about 2,000 cars per year. Furthermore, the emission of carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides is permanently reduced.
