A statement from Dr. Helmut Kaufmann

In 2008, AMAG's COO, Helmut Kaufmann, announced the birth of the Scientific Advisory Board.

10 years of scientific excellence

For 10 years, 5 experts with different areas of expertise have been meeting in AMAG's Scientific Advisory Board, thereby supporting AMAG in implementing its strategy as a premium supplier.

The Scientific Advisory Board has been a true success story – not just for AMAG, but equally for the participating professors and their institutes, and aluminium research in Austria. The combined expertise in the advisory board, and the institutions behind it

  • Montanuniversität Leoben,
  • TU Wien and
  • TU Graz

clearly represent a pool of experts and a visible focal point for aluminium research.

With the contribution of the Scientific Advisory Board we have succeeded in creating an excellent reputation for AMAG as both an innovative company and a competent development partner.

If we are talking about sustainably generated specialist aluminium sheet products and cast alloys, we have probably the highest density of competence in the world right here.

More than aluminium development

AMAG's strategic positioning policy as a premium supplier of aluminium special products, to my mind is inextricably bound up with innovative excellence.

An innovative excellence that must necessarily be spread along the entire process chain, as we develop new specialized products, or make further optimizations to existing ones. It therefore seemed to me that we could help further these goals by inviting acknowledged scientific experts from different fields of expertise to join a new AMAG board.

However, the idea is not, and never has been, just about developing aluminium products. It is also important to us to create a sustainable pool of experts in our company, and to support young talent in Austria.

Nowadays, we receive spontaneous applications from experts from well-known universities in Austria and abroad, and have developed a diverse Research, Development and Technology department which together with our university partners certainly can hold its own in international comparisons.

My personal highlight is the current situation, which represents the culmination of ten years of consistent growth and development work.
